SONBOL TAEFI, musician, singer and company director says:
“I was born in a Bahá’í Family. I was taught the concepts of all
religions
during the school years and I decided to be a Bahá’í at the age of 18.
What
attracted me to the Faith was its universal outlook. Its teachings,
such as
the unity of religions, racial unity, and harmony drew my attention,
but the
power that is exhibited in the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh confirmed for me
that
the source of these teachings is divine.
“The Bahá’í Writings stress that music is the food of the soul and
spirit,
and that through the power and charm of music the spirit of man is
uplifted.
I get my inspiration from the Bahá’í Writings and try to compose music
that
has a positive effect on the soul.”
Having grown up in Iran and lived in the United Kingdom, Samoa, and New
Zealand, Sonbol is a “world citizen” and a seasoned traveller who has
visited many different countries.
She has produced and recorded several music albums and has performed in
concerts put on by Bahá’í communities in Australia, Africa, Canada,
Europe,
the United Kingdom, the United States, and New Zealand.
“Even in the most remote places I travelled to, I found Bahá’ís who
thought
like me and believed in the same principles,” she says.
Sonbol is married to Farzbod Taefi, and they have two daughters. Sonbol
and
Farzbod are directors of a vocational training organisation that
provides
training in a wide variety of courses. In her work, she finds it
rewarding
to see people with limited knowledge and skills achieve their goals
when
they finish their courses, and move on to higher education or
employment.
“The Bahá’í teachings play an important role in our business and we try
to
use the universal teachings of the Faith, such as equality of
opportunity
for men and women, and racial unity, as a basis for how we operate our
business," she says.
